I grew up a weird little kid made chubby at the teats of Marvel comics, Nintendo and New Jersey. My spare time consisted of faithfully recreating comic characters in pencil and absolutely murdering Super Mario Bros. 3. That skill (the drawing part) caught the attention of my parents and classmates and so I expanded my repertoire with original content. Before long I began writing stories about the characters I’d created. This was the formula for acceptance that carried me through childhood. There was nothing more rewarding than bottling my imagination and releasing it on a classroom full of kids.
Since then I’ve focused my professional life on realizing experiences through animation, motion graphics and design. I’ve worked on games, broadcast graphics, websites, video installations -- all kinds of digital media. It’s been a blast but has never allowed me to completely reconnect with what once made me so genuinely joyful.
Having a successful seventeen-year career in motion graphics that has never quieted the incessant calling to reconnect with storytelling, I’ve realized all roads have led me to the starting point of a brand new chapter of my life. One that involves the relentless growth of my imagination towards the co-creation of the world’s best animated series.
As a child, I spent my days in the sweltering heat of South Australia trying to breathe while being dunked in sunscreen by my mother. Between swimming unsupervised in the entire ocean, chasing kangaroos on my BMX bike, or practicing the perfect cricket bowl, I always found myself coming back to the two things I truly loved...drawing and telling jokes.
I carried this love with me throughout the awkward stages of middle & high school, where I was the artsy athlete trying to fit into both worlds of “jocks” and “art nerds.” This is where I found out that being funny meant fitting in. It was in college when I bought my first drawing tablet and began to explore digital art and illustration through this new fancy medium. I illustrated my first children’s book, pretentious product packaging, my second children’s book, and endless comedy gig posters.
I now spend my days drawing for a living while at night, hitting the town slinging jokes to anyone that will listen. Comedy and art have been my foundation throughout my whole life, and after meeting Mike, it was clear that the love for each of our art forms (and each other) was meant to be. It was a match made in animated series heaven... Kevin’s Heaven.
